almost done with my credential!
Yes, i am so close to being done that I must procrastinate. My last class for my UCLA program is this Saturday. I have an exit presentation to do on a social justice issue... and although it's just ONE powerpoint document away, i cannot seem to get it done. I look back and i think I am a bit sad that the program is coming to an end. I've met so many caring, hard-working teachers through my classes. As burnt out as we all were from working full-time and having to take classes on weeknights and Saturdays, it was a good time of collaboration and bonding.
Next week is the last week of school. It's amazing to me that i'm finishing up my 3rd year as a teacher. It's crazy that i'll be done with my 3rd set of 175 students. How did i remember so many names and faces? Wow.
For the summer, i'm going up to Stanford for 3 weeks to be an assistant instructor for a girls' summer science camp. It's like my dream job b/c it's specializing in girls, I get to teach life science/oceanography, and there will actually be money for resources and labs! incredible. my only concern is that it starts the DAY after my school ends here in LA. I think i'm gonna be a bit tired.
The strangest thing was realizing that this will be the longest i've ever been away from LA. When i moved here, i had no idea that this would be my HOME. Have i turned into an LA-girl? =) I just wanted to try something new and different when i first came. Since then, the longest i've been gone is my trip to Europe with my brother. That lasted 16 days and was 2 summers ago. This year, will i miss LA? How weird. I'm excited, though, to be back on campus. I'm gonna be busy busy with responsibilities, especially since I'm in charge of overseeing the counselors in the evenings, but how i love campus. It'll be so nice to walk around at night when it's quiet and so alive with good memories.
