Hey Yu!

oh phooey...now it's almost March!

wow, what's happening to the time? why does life accelerate as you get older?
but perhaps it's b/c i've been so busy? not that i wasn't before... little known fact about me: i used to have a mtg or dinner w/ someone different everyday! but now, i've added 2 new variables to that: D and exercising.

woo-hoo for snowboarding! i'm not as bad as i feared, but i'm still slow slow slow. look at the *beautiful* weather we had at Squaw!

introducing even more friends to the wonders of ALL-you-can-eat korean bbq...

and dancing, dancing, dancing! D's extremely rhythmic and a terrifically fast learner! i got him dance lessons as part of his xmas present, and he actually enjoys ballroom! lucky girl i am...

and outside of D, i'm very insistent that i still see everyone else too:
our weekly roommate dinners are no more, but it's still good to meet up w/ mrs. ko & company - and boy, the food at JiRaffe was fantabulous!

there's always a new discovery when LR stops into town... here we are trying out Iranian rosewater ice-cream. (actually, i thought it tasted too much like having a rose petal in my mouth and the lavender flavor tasted like my sock drawer, so i got strawberry cheesecake ice cream instead)

and only 2 weeks later, she flew back in town! i see this DC gal more often than some of my LA friends! this is at our routine Pinkberry stop.

small grp girls' brunch at Taste in W. Hollywood - stylin' and the food was really good!
and i was fortunate enough to spend a whole afternoon w/ this bunch...i love these cuties!

but my life isn't all socializing... being Missions Director for my church has taken a toll on my spare time, but it's been really exciting work! it's terrific to not only know that i'll be back on the field this summer, but i can help others get there as well! and my ctte and I are really setting the groundwork for our church's entire missions vision!

and that feeds right into revisiting my goals for last year (from my Jan 3, 2007 blog):
#1) stepping up my leadership and service for God
#2) learning skills for conflict management & resolution
#3) cooking & exercising

a lot happened w/ #1 and sometimes it feels like i work for the church, but it's been an honor to serve, and though it has its ups and downs, i'm still desperately in love with God (more desperately b/c now i realize now much i need Him)!

i don't know if #2 was met but i definitely encountered more conflict and had to go thru some serious reconciliations as a result. i guess this will be a life-long learning goal...

and though i totally forgot about #3, i look back and serendipitously find that it was met. i took that cancer prevention cooking class and finally joined a gym in December.

which leads into my goals for 2008:
#1) regularly exercise (a very new thing for me!)
#2) learn more about the Old Testament
#3) grow in prayer & ministering to others through prayer

so much to do, so much to learn - but that's part of why life is so good. =)

How is it already February??

ack, i feel like i haven't quite wrapped up 2007 so before i update about NOW, here are some random thoughts of yesteryear...

-From mid-December, congrats to A&T for their 2nd beautiful daugther!
the miracle of life is indeed amazing... & this little girlie is sooo cute! btw, it seems like everyone i know is pregnant - so beware, if you know me, you might be too!

-I spent a week at home for Christmas...and gained 8 pounds during that time!! yikes!!
picture @ my grandma's house with my bro and our cousins

-Tallies:
9 weddings
15 trips (Houston 4x, Bay Area 2x, Mammoth, Julian, Oahu, Beijing, Atlanta, Vegas, Tijuana + school-related ones: Idyllwild, Catalina)

----
i feel really behind... seriously, where did January go??
this is super late, but imitating my Jan 3, 2007 blog, here's my list looking back on noteable favorites for the year: (of course, w/ completely arbitrary categories)

Movies:
Action/story-telling: Apocalypto
Disturbing: Crimes and Misdemeanors & Sophie's Choice
Re-seen: Braveheart

Books:
The Good News About Injustice
(hmm...no separate categories b/c i didn't read much this year...or rather, i started a million books and never finished them. arg, bad habit to start!)

TV:
The Office - i know, i discovered this kinda late in the game...

Food:
-steak at Mastro's...actually, i liked the lobster mashed potatoes even more...
-Cousin Olive's corn pudding at a joint community group potluck
-shrimp risotto and fruit tart at Eric's wedding
-shaved ice at Matsumoto's

Gifts received:
-cards (do people write these anymore??)
-mixing bowls
-AmEx giftcards (from a couple parents of my students)

Purchases:
-Canon PowerShot SD800 IS (bought w/ birthday $)
-Northface 3-in-1 ski jacket (partially bought w/ a GC mentioned above)
-Trench coat (also partially bougth w/ GCs - woo-hoo!)
here i am @ Wicked modeling my lovely trench coat...
but also, who is that i'm with? =)

so i'll call the lucky guy above "D" - and he's lucky b/c he's w/ me. haha, just kidding! actually, part of the reason i haven't updated my blog in so long is that i haven't known what to say about him w/o gushing how amazing he is (and how lucky *I* am). he's terrific!

and since this is my blog and i can say whatever i want, why not gush? heehee...
he's brilliant, insightful, servant-hearted, incredibly affirming, and i could go on and on, but best of all, he's confident enough to be vulnerable. in fact, he's instated that our #1 rule is that we laugh at ourselves in this relationship. and laugh we do - a LOT. it's been fun. =)

my students are going to walk in any minute now so i have to cut this off, but i'm sure you'll hear about him again... =)
have a great weekend! (i'm going snowboarding!!)
